About Wachovia Center
The construction work of Wachovia Center was completed in 1996 that was actually a dream of Ed Snider. It was his dream to build a new state-of-the-art facility that can be the home for the 76ers and the Flyers. Since then, the Wachovia Center built at a cost of $206 million has been serving as the best entertainment venue in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. The indoor arena, Wachovia Center can accommodate 21,600 spectators for basketball and 19,519 for hockey. But with additional standing room admissions, the total paid capacity increases much higher. The Wachovia Center has 126 luxury suites and 1,880 club seats.
The Wachovia Center set a record in February 2006 for the highest crowd for a college basketball game played between Villanova and Uconn. The Wachovia Center has hosted numerous concerts of popular names from the entertainment like Billy Joel, Van Halen, Britney Spears,The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Elton John, Spice Girls, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, Mariah Carey and David Bowie among others.
