About Van Duzer Theatre
Even though Van Duzer Theatre is a smaller club than many, it has big bands like Taking Back Sunday once in a while. Mostly, the venue will have smaller bands from around the county play any given weekend. Open mic nights on Monday allow groups from around town who are just starting out or just playing for fun to be heard, giving Van Duzer Theatre a break from the scheduled shows.
Van Duzer Theatre was originally known as The Celebrity, but Nathan Geanopulos purchased the club from Lane Prather in 1976 and changed the name. The owner used his favorite club when he was in his 20s and lived in Omaha as the inspiration for the layout of the club he owns now. Van Duzer Theatre has become one of the most preferred dive clubs around the metropolitan area to listen to concerts and stop off for a beer.
