Wrigley Field has been a baseball landmark since its construction in 1914 for the Chicago Cubs. The friendly confines and the ivy covered walls of the outfield are a hitter dream with baskets extending inward from the outfield walls to catch those “could have been” long fly balls. Fans regularly wait outside the stadium on Waveland Avenue for the balls that fly over the bleacher section. In age when many stadiums have been criticized for taking names of corporate sponsors, many forget that Wrigley Field is itself named for the gum company, having previously been known as Weegham Park and Cubs Park. >> More
