The Sprint Center located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri is the latest name in indoor arenas. As the telecommunications company Sprint is the title sponsor of the arena, it is named as Sprint Center. The Downtown Arena Design Team did the design of the Sprint Center. It houses the headquarters of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. The Sprint Center has been built to accommodate comfortably 18,500 people and it also features 72 suites. It was developed to replace the Kemper Arena, which was built in 1974.

In many ways, the Sprint Center built with a budget of $4.5 billion highlights the clear vision of Kansas City and the passion of AEG. In addition to the arena, the Sprint Center also features condominiums, restaurants, themed bars, movie and live entertainment theaters. The doors of the Sprint Center were opened to the public on October 10, 2007. The first event held at the arena was a live concert by Elton John that took place on October 13, 2007. It has already been announced that this state-of-the-art facility center will host the 2008 Big 12 Conference men's basketball tournament, along with the first and second rounds of the 2009 NCAA Men's Tournament and the regional rounds of the 2010 NCAA Women's Tournament.
With the opening of the Sprint Center, the Kansas City got a new destination for hosting world-class sports and entertainment related concerts or live shows.
