Philips Arena is an indoor arena located at 1 Philips Drive NW, Atlanta, Georgia, and is the home of the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL and the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. The venue was designed by HOK Sport and completed in 1999 at a cost of $213.5 million USD, owned and operated by Atlanta Spirit, LLC, with capacity of 18,729 for basketball, 18,545 for ice hockey and 21,000 for concerts and other entertainment events. The arena includes 92 luxury suites and 1,866 club seats. The first event in the Philips Arena was a concert by the musician Sir Elton John in September 1999.

The arena hosted a number of professional wrestling events including WCW Nitro on June 5, 2000, also the World Wrestling Entertainment Royal Rumble event in January 2002, Backlash 2007 in April 2007 and has hosted several episodes of RAW. The largest crowd for an Atlanta Hawks basketball game, with approximate number of about 20,040 people, was in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. In 2003 the arena was host to the NBA All-Star Game and the 2004 US Figure Skating Championships. Due to the 2004–05 NHL lockout, the arena wasn’t hosting the planned All-Star Game, and Atlanta became the second city to lose a planned All-Star Game. Later the arena was announced as home to the 56th NHL All-Star Game in 2008. Janet Jackson had her Rock Witchu Tour in the arena on 5 October 2008 and on 9 November 2008, Tina Turner performed her hits, such as What's Love Got To Do With It, Proud Mary and The Best for her Tina: Live in Concert Tour.
