About Hartman Arena
Hartman Arena is more of a basement-type bar, but intermittently it has big groups like AFI. Bands from town perform at the stage most of the time, any given weekend. Every day but Monday Hartman Arena has a band or a concert scheduled. On that odd day they have an open mic for anything from alternative rock to standup comedy.
Hartman Arena was originally a burger stand, but it was remodeled into a bar after it was a condemned in 1964 by Michael Vanderhoff. The owner used his favorite hangout when he was going for his undergraduate degree at at the University of Arizona as the inspiration for the design of the bar he operates now. Hartman Arena has since become the coolest neighborhood club in the city for shows.
