The Giants Stadium is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Often referred to as the Meadowlands, the stadium opened in the year 1976. The New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority owns and operates the stadium that is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets football teams of the NFL and the New York Red Bulls soccer team of MLS. The Giants Stadium hosted the inaugural game on October 10, 1976 that was played between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. It has hosted a number of college games that includes the Garden State Bowl, the Kickoff Classic and the New York Urban League Classic. It has also hosted some games of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the 1999 Women's World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup. It has also been host to concerts by the U2, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, the Eagles, David Bowie, Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Elton John, Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses.
The Giants Stadium has a seating capacity of around 80,242 people. The year 2008 will see some performances by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, besides games between the Red Bull New York and the Kansas City Wizards, the FC Dallas, the Los Angeles Galaxy, the DC United and the Real Salt Lake.
