Gainesville Raceway is a well-known facility center that has the famous NHRA drag strip along with a vehicle testing road course that is often used by karts for competition. Opened in 1969, the Gainesville Raceway situated in Florida held its first Gatornationals event in the year 1970. Alan Wilson designed the road course of the Gainesville Raceway that was apparently completed in 2000. An older 1.6-mile road course was used from 1977 till 1984.

Following the 2003 season, Gainesville Raceway has undergone some significant renovations to make the road course perfect for future use. Following the renovation work, the concrete launch pad at the starting line of the ultra-quick drag strip of the Gainesville Raceway was extended to the 675-foot mark. While the remainder of the racing surface that includes the shutdown area along with the professional pits were repaved. Even a new television compound was installed especially for the ESPN crew on the northern side of the drag strip Moreover; the facilities of the restroom located at the timing tower were upgraded with a new carpet and windows. The storm drainage system that is situated in the parking lots of the Gainesville Raceway was upgraded and many of the access roads that connects to the sportsman pit areas were improved.
