The Fox Theater is located in downtown Detroit in Michigan. It was built in 1928 and is the largest of the other Fox Theaters. Architect C. Howard Crane designed the theater for William Fox, the founder of 20th Century Fox. It was the first movie theater to have live sound.

The Fox Theater made a grand opening on September 21, 1928 with the film “Street Angel.” Later on Elvis Presley and Benny Goodman also performed at the theater. After some renovation work, the theater reopened in 1988 and hosted a variety of events that included the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2007 and many well-known Broadway shows. Some of the famous performances at the venue include Sesame Street Live: Let's Be Friends, David Copperfield, Donny Osmond, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and Go! Diego! Live! with Liz Coscia.
The Fox Theater is an important venue in Detroit and has a seating capacity of around 5,000 people. Some of the upcoming events in the year 2008 include performances by Erykah Badu, Jerry Seinfeld, the Color Purple, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Celtic Thunder. The Fox Theater has been entertaining the people of Detroit for a long time.
