The FedExForum is one of the most popular arenas of the NBA's. It was officially opened in the month of September of 2004, after much efforts made by the local residents. The FedExForum is situated in the southern part of downtown Memphis, Tennessee . Managed and operated by the Memphis Grizzlies, the facility is home to both the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA and the University of Memphis Tigers basketball team. Built at a huge cost of $250 million, the FedExForum is owned by the City of Memphis. In the construction of this large arena, even the local people came forward in huge numbers. The naming rights were purchased by the well-known business firm, FedEx of Memphis. The designing work of the FedExForum was done by the architectural firm Ellerbe Becket. The arena was built covering 14 acres of land. The interior segment of the FedExForum was designed with a Memphis vibe which is highlighted with paintings and murals done by some of the city's most famous artists.
With the seating capacity of 20,000 people, the FedExForum has 1,000 premiere court-side seats. There are also 27 courtside suites, 54 club suites, 4 party suites along with 80 club boxes to meet the requirements of various programs. The venue has all the necessary facilities required for hosting ice hockey games, concerts and family shows on a large scale. It is the first of its kind to include new "see-through" shot clocks which helps the spectators to enjoy their game without any interference. FedExForum is the largest public building construction project in the history of Memphis.
