The Count Basie is a theatre for performing arts that is located in Red Bank, New Jersey. The theatre was inaugurated on November 11, 1926 as the Carlton Theatre. The opening night was attended by some prominent personalities like E.F. Albee, Nicholas Schenck, Adolph Zukor, Hiram Abrams, B.S. Moss, A.O. Erlanger, A.H. Woods, Joseph Denahy, Mayor William White of Red Bank, Mayor James T. McMurray of Plainfield, Mayor F.W. Donnelly of Trenton, Mayor C.E.F. Hetrick of Asbury Park, former Mayor C.W. Housman of Long Branch and various stage and screen stars.

The Carlton Theatre was primarily opened to feature moving pictures, vaudeville and dramatic shows. After several successful years, the theatre was closed in the year 1970. In the year 1973, the Monmouth County Arts Council purchased the theatre and renamed it as the Monmouth Arts Center. It was once again named the Count Basie Theatre after the prominent musician, William “Count” Basie.
The Count Basie Theatre has a seating capacity for 1,543 patrons. James Brown, Tony Bennett, Al Green, George Carlin, Olivia Newton John, Brian Wilson, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Jon Stewart and Bruce Springsteen were the legendary performers hosted by the theatre in the past. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra perform regular concerts at the theatre.
