The Petco Park is basically a baseball park that is located in downtown San Diego, California. The stadium was inaugurated on April 8, 2004 with a seating capacity for 42,445 spectators.

The Petco Park was constructed on the site of the Qualcomm Stadium and it has been the home to the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). The City of San Diego and the San Diego Padres own the ballpark. It is an open-air stadium that features many recreational facilities, restaurants, a kid’s entertainment zone, a theatre, seats with computer technology, a 250-seat auditorium and the Padres Hall of Fame.
The Petco Park is attractive, efficient, comfortable and strikingly beautiful. It gives a breathtaking view of San Diego. The local newspaper, the San Diego Union-Tribune honored the park with an Orchid award for its design in the year 2006.
The park has also hosted the semi-finals and finals of the World Baseball Classic in 2006. The park hosted its first music concert with the Rolling Stones on November 11, 2005. Recently, it has also played host to the USA Sevens during the IRB Sevens World Series.
