The Chanin Brothers built the Majestic Theater in New York in the year 1927. It was built as a part of a three-theater complex that also included the Royale and the Theatre Masque, now known as the John Golden. The Shubert Organization owns this large musical house.

The Majestic Theater opened with the production of a revue, “Rufus LeMaire’s Affairs” (1927) and this was followed by a Sigmund Romberg operetta, “The Love Call” (1927). Some of the other productions held at the venue include Me and Juliet, By the Beautiful Sea, The Music Man, Sugar, Mack and Mabel, The Act and Yep. Andrew Lloyd Webber's “The Phantom of the Opera” debuted at the Majestic Theater in the year 1988. Some of the great actors who have performed at the theater include Jimmy Durante, Mary Martin, Robert Preston, Julie Andrews, Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and Judy Kaye.
The Majestic Theater is a premier Broadway musical house in New York. It has a seating capacity of around 1,645 people. The Broadway musical, “The Phantom of the Opera” will continue with its run at the Majestic Theater in the year 2008 as well.
