The Ford Center of Performing Arts-IL is located in Chicago. Managed by the 'Broadway in Chicago', the center opened on May 8, 1926. Formerly known as the Oriental Theater, it was renamed the Ford Center in 1997. The center was closed in 1981 and reopened in 1998 after some renovation work.

On it’s reopening, the Ford Center premiered with “Ragtime”. Besides, the SFX Theatrical Group production “Fosse” also debuted at the Ford Center. The center has seen some great entertainers like Paul Ash, The Three Stooges, Judy Garland, Al Jolson, Stepin Fetchit, Sophie Tucker, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Fanny Brice, Danny Kaye and Alice Faye. Some other performances include Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips and Little Richard. It also staged the pre-Broadway show of “Blast” and the world premier of “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz”.
The Ford Center of Performing Arts-IL in Chicago has been presenting first runs of popular motion pictures besides stage shows. The year 2008 will see the staging of the Broadway musical; “Wicked” that stars Gene Weygandt, Rondi Reed and Heidi Kettenring. The center is a popular venue for live performances and concerts in Chicago.
