Blue Man Group has broken through drama's barriers to create a new category for the Outer Circle Critics Award, a Unique Theatrical Production category, and the group's CD 'Audio' was nominated for a GRAMMY. Weird, but also wildly inventive and universally funny is this New York-based troupe that picked Las-Vegas for its fourth and biggest production. When they're not pounding on PVC pipe, three silent pranksters in skullcaps and blue greasepaint combine highbrow humor and schoolyard play-with-your-food tricks, old-fashioned sleight-of-hand and genuine efforts to explain science and nature. The minimalist, industrial look and an aggressive, percussive score may scare some away, but a new generation of showgoer is more likely to appreciate its unique point of view.

"The Blue Man Group" is performing inside the Luxor theatre at the Luxor Hotel and Casino. It is a multi-media, sensory experience that dashes apart the boundaries of virtually every production show that we have in Las-Vegas--and it is wonderful. In so many ways, this production defies the traditional concept of a "show", that it almost defies description.

"The Blue Man Group" opened in Las-Vegas at the beginning of the year 2000. It has played here for over two and a half years and is still being advertised as the "new" show in town. The ability for this show to succeed in this town was very questionable at first, but now with overwhelming and continued enthusiasm for the show, it is one of only a few productions that run seven days a week--this is accomplished by rotating cast members.

The Blue men are a well synchronized group. Their reactions are uniquely in unison, and yet, each member maintains their individualism. The Blue men have the unique ability to appear as if they are strangers from another planet, experiencing things for the very first time, as well as, masterful and thoughtful aliens sharing knowledge and experience with us.

The Blue Man Group is an amazing production. It is a wonderful mix of art, music, thought, sight, touch, words, and sounds. It is a complete sensory experience that, in the final evaluation, is something that must be experienced rather than watched. It is not a traditional performance, but it is a wonderful production that I hope everyone has a chance to see and participate in.
