Young Frankstein: Story
Young Frankenstein tells the story of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the descendant of Dr, Victor von Frankestein. Frederick, now an esteemed brain surgeon in New York, is trying to distance himself from his grandfather, who is famous for re-animating the dead.

He and his uptight fiancée Elizabeth travel to see the castle in Transylvania he has inherited after his grandfather’s death. In a dream his grandfather tries to get him to join “the family business.”
Frederick of course reanimates the giant, but with the wrong brain. Amid the confusion the Monster is let loose upon the city to lost and hapless. The villagers confront the monster, but with a little song and dance the monster’s life is spared, the doctor’s brain is returned, and the characters couple up.

Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan are back at it again. This time they bring Young Frankenstein from the movie vault to the Broadway stage. Brooks, who created the film, has written the music and lyrics for the musical version and has collaborated with Meehan to write the musical book.
The production parodies the horror films of old, specifically Frankenstein released in 1931 by Universal pictures. The parody had a four week run in Seattle before making its way across the country to New York.
The 2007 Young Frankenstein stars Roger Bart as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Shuler Hensley as The Monster, Christopher as Igor, and Sutton Foster as Inga. Megan Mullally makes her way from television’s Will and Grace to play Elizabeth Benning, anither television veteran Andrea Martin plays Frau Blucher, and Fred Applegate as Inspector Hans Kemp and The Hermit.
