Guys and Dolls, which also went on to be a cult classic in the movie world, is the product of the influences of Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling's book as well as Damon Runyon's pieces on the lower side of New York Life. Under Frank Loesser's magical score, the story truly lights up the stage and has been a favorite with theater and movie goers for many years. The play centers around two gamblers, Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson. Nathan needs some money to set up 'the oldest established floating crap game in New York'. He bets Sky a thousand dollars that Sky will not be able to un-freeze the cool and virtuous missionary Miss Sarah Brown. Sky manages to convince Sarah to come with him for dinner in Havana but in return he must deliver her a dozen sinners for a prayer meeting. The evening seems to be going well for Sky- Sarah gets warmed up to the Latino night life and lets down her hair but Sky finds himself falling head over heels for Sarah himself! Back home, Detroit is having his own problems with a fiancé who keeps trying to make him settle down and a town full of sharp shooters waiting to trap Detroit into a game of craps.

The play is best remembered for its impeccable comedy and rousing numbers that are rendered in a vigorous, big band style. Even today, numbers like 'If I were a Bell', "I've Never Been in Love Before' and 'Luck Be a Lady' can still get the audience captivated with their lilting melodies and big band beats.
