Background:
A Little Night Music is a tremendous musical by Stephen Sondheim. Well, Sondheim has contributed the music. It is based on the book which is written by Hugh Wheeler. It debuted on Broadway at the popular Shubert Theater on 25th February 1973. The well defined cast of the original included Len Cariou, Glynis Johns, Hermione Gingold, Victoria Mallory, Mark Lambert, Patricia Elliott, Laurence Guittard, and D. Jamin-Bartlett. Then, it became a huge hit and was acclaimed worldwide. With this it went on to win the prestigious Tony Award in the category of Best Musical and the famous New York Drama Critics Circle Award.

About A Little Night Music
The story explores the life of Fredrik Egerman. Fredrik is a lawyer married to his teenage wife beautiful Anne. Though, it’s been eleven months since the couple got married but they are yet to intimate physically. So, his wife is still a virgin. Besides this, there have been other problems also.
Soon, the trouble arises as the couple go to watch a hit play in the theater. Then, followed the most dramatic moment in the play as Fredric encounters his old flame called Desiree Armfield. Now, all his feelings start coming back and he ends up sleeping in bed with Desiree. So, it seems as if it is another dramatic play but there is another twist in the tale. Actually Desire is the mistress of a soldier called as Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm. Now, comes Fredrick's son, Henrik who is also in love with little Anne. The play reaches the climax when all the characters meet in Desiree's house.
This musical ride is based on a flick by Ingmar Bergman, title, "Smiles of a Summer Night." In 1974, the play received its premier in London which starred, Joss Ackland, Jean Simmons, David Kernan, Hermione Gingold and Diane Langton. This version of the play was also adapted into
