The Kansas City Wizards are a professional soccer club formed in 1995 in Kansas City, Kansas that participates in Major League Soccer. The team owner is OnGoal, LLC. and the coach is Curt Onalfo. They won the MLS Cup in 2000 and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2004 and their name "Wizards" is an allusion to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, as the main character is from Kansas. Their uniform colors are blue and white and they used to play their home games in Arrowhead Stadium, from their foundation until this year when they entered an agreement with the Kansas City T-Bones to use their home stadium, the 10,385 capacity CommunityAmerica Ballpark, during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

The teams’ first game was played at the Arrowhead Stadium on April 13, 1996 against the Colorado Rapids with a 3-0 victory for the Wizards. During the 1996 season, they were known as the Kansas City Wiz, but later changed names due to a copyright dispute. From their foundation to 2006, they were owned by Lamar Hunt, who later sold them to OnGoal, LLC. The Wizards recently acquired Argentine Claudio Lopez who has participated in 2 world cups for South American powerhouse Argentina and he signed a 1 year deal with the Wizards.
