It is said that football was first played in Turin, in the year 1909. The main person, who organized the event was Sir Thomas Lipton. The tournament was organized to contest the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy. From that time onwards, the game has become one of the important part of the sports world. To honor the tournament, many prestigious teams participated. The ones which participated were Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. Another team which became the part of the tournament was Auckland, FC, which was invited, as England refused to be a part of the tournament. The team of Auckland comprised of coal miners, but, it was West Auckland who won the Tournament. They however, won the game for the second time against Juventus by 6-1, in Italy, in the year of 1911.

The first FIFA World Cup was played in Uruguay and which was played from July 13- 30, 1930. Jules Rimet was the main person who organized the tournament. He was designed as the president of FIFA during that time. Out of thirteen nations that took part in the tournament, the host nation won the game. It was a memorable victory for the team, as they beat Argentina by 4-2.

2010 Preview

Amongst the victorious teams like Argentina and Germany, Brazil lead the tournament with five victories in hand. The third victory being in the year of 1970, for them. More to add, Brazil is one of the most powerful team of the football. The team was declared as runners-up twice. This time the hopes are as high as fire amongst the fans, so it will be the waiting time for all the fans of football as to see who will be the next winner.

The tradition of distribution of awards has always been the criteria of every tournament. This year's awards will given to the players who will make outstanding achievements in the whole tournament. There would be five awards:
