Canadian professional soccer club, the Toronto FC is founded and located in Toronto in 2006, and is the first non-American team in Major League Soccer. The team is playing their home games at the 20,522 capacity BMO Field, the owner is MLSE and the head coach John Carver. Their first regular season match was on April 7, 2007 at the Home Deport Center in Los Angeles, a 0-2 loss to Chivas USA. On May 11, 2006 the team’s owner, Maple Leaf & Entertainment Ltd. announced the name of the team, and they were referred to simply by the initials "TFC," or the "Reds".

The Toronto FC ‘s largest win was 4-0 vs FC Dallas, played on June 17, 2007 at the BMO Field and their all-time top scorer is Danny Dichio. On February 1, 2008, John Carver which was formerly caretaker manager at Leeds United and later assistant at Luton Town F.C., was announced as the new head coach of the team. Also Paul Winsper was hired as Strength and Conditioning Coach on January 11, 2008. Although the team did not make the playoffs, they had a financial success in their inaugural season, selling out every home game in the 20,522-seat BMO Field and capturing unprecedented media attention. The Toronto FC is restricted to an 18 man senior roster and a 10 man developmental roster, in accordance with MLS policies.
