The ownership group from the Sounders came over with the team, but whether or not the team would remain the Sounders was left up to the fans. In a vote that decided if the city’s soccer tradition would begin anew or keep with tradition, the old name one with a majority of the fan vote. Thus the Seattle Sounders moved from the USL to the MLS and became the Seattle Sounders FC. Much more will be up to the fans who have season tickets to the games at Qwest Field.
Drew Carey, a minority owner in the franchise, insisted that the new team form the Seattle FC Alliance, an organization of season ticket holders that can vote on important issues like a new General Manger. This and a marching band make the franchise an organization inspired by European professional customs and those college days of yore. Sounders tickets will be entertaining at the very least thanks to these measures.
The team comes into the league with the 2007 MVP of the USL First Division, Sebastian Le Toux. He is the star surrounded by talent like Freddie Ljungberg, Kasey Keller, Sanna Nyassi, and Taylor Graham. The team should be worth buying Sounders FC tickets for thanks to its history as a team that is simply being carried over rather than beginning from nothing.
