Houston Dynamo is a North American professional soccer team founded in 2005 in Houston, Texas, United States and the team plays in Major League Soccer and also is the back-to-back MLS Cup champion. Their owners are Anschutz Entertainment Group, Golden Boy Enterprises LLC and Brener International Group and the coach is Dominic Kinnear. The teams’ nicknames are Dynamo, Orange Crush, La Naranja, The Men in Orange, The Orange and they are playing their home games in the 32,000 capacity Robertson Stadium, located on the University of Houston campus in southeast Houston. The Dynamos’ first game was played in front of a crowd of 25,462 on April 2, 2006 where the Dynamo beat the Colorado Rapids with 5–2. Their name “Houston 1836” was first announced as the team name on January 25, 2006 after the online survey for the fans to provide unofficial suggestions for the new team name. Their first season was finished in Houston with an 11-8-13 record, earning them second place in the Western Conference and in the Conference Semi-final playoffs, they beat Club Deportivo Chivas USA. In the Western Conference on November 5, 2006, the Dynamo beat Colorado Rapids 3 to advance to the MLS Cup. Also they beat New England Revolution 4-3 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie on November 12, 2006 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas and won the 2006 MLS Cup.
