Rugby Union's Bledisloe Cup is named after Lord Bledisloe, the former Governor-General of New Zealand who donated the trophy in the year 1931. It is contested between Australia's Wallabies and New Zealand's All Blacks. There is no firm evidence as to when the first Bledisloe Cup match was played, but the New Zealand Rugby Union believes that the first match was played when New Zealand toured Australia in the year 1932.

About Bledisloe Cup Rugby
Between the years 1931 and 1981 it was contested irregularly in the course of rugby tours between the two countries. New Zealand won it 19 times and Australia only four times in this period. In the years 1982 to 1995 it was contested annually in which New Zealand won it 11 times and Australia three times. Since the year 1996 the cup has been contested as part of the annual Tri Nations tournament.
ANZ Stadium, formerly Telstra Stadium and originally known as Stadium Australia, was the centerpiece of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The original capacity was for 110,000 seats, however post-games renovations have reduced this to 83,500 seats.
ANZ Stadium has hosted many major sporting events since it opened in the year 1999. These include major Soccer matches including the Socceroos vs. Brazil and Manchester United, major Rugby Union matches including the Wallabies vs. British & Irish Lions and the Bledisloe Cup vs. New Zealand, Rugby League fixtures including NRL double headers and Grand Finals, state or origin and international matches. It also plays host to Australian Football with the Sydney Swans playing a few games at the venue each year.
