The PGA Grand Slam of Golf tournament has its roots in the late half of the seventies right after a few short breaks. However ever since 1991 the PGA Grand Slam of Golf has been played as a 2-day and a 36 hold stroke game except for when it was played in 1998 and later in 1999 when the tournament was played as match play. However prior to that from 1979 to 1990 the game was played as a one day and eighteen hole stroke play game.

In the beginning when the PGA Grand slam of Golf was still new it was played at various golf courses every year. However things changed from 1994 right up to 2006 when it was played continuously at the Poipu Bay golf Course located in Koloa, Hawaii which is located on the of Kauai. After that in 2007 the tournament was moved to the Mid Ocean Club located in Bermuda where it is still played very mid of October.

Today the latest PGA Grand Slam of Golf prize fund is set at $1.35 million out of which over $600,000 will go to the winner of the tournament. This is probably the lowest prize which is offered in terms of major golfing events however every player that comes in last is guaranteed to get $200,000. Prior to that the prize from 1991 to 2005 was $1 million out of which $400,000 was given to the winner. The purse increased for the tournament in 2006 to $1.25 million with the winner getting $500,000.

The 2008 PGA Grand Slam of Golf tournament was played at the beautiful Mid Ocean Club. Trevor Immelman was the winner, Pádraig Harrington, Retief Goosen was the second alternate and Jim Furyk was the third alternate. Tiger Woods played the tournament and was one of the most favorite players present. However he couldn’t play because he suffered a knee surgery. This is why the first alternate Phil Mickelson played. The event was covered by TNT for television viewers.

The 2009 tournamnet will feature Ángel Cabrera, Stewart Cink and Lucas Glover. It will be played at the Bermuda. The 2010 event will also be played in Bermuda.
