This PGA golf tournament actually started in 1971 under the name the Walt Disney World Open Invitational. From 1974 through 1981, the tournament was played as a two man team only and the score as taken out of who hit the better ball out of the two. However, in 2007, things changed. Under new management, the name was changed to the Children's Miracle Network Classic and the tournament also became the final event in the PGA Tour Fall Series. Being held at the Walt Disney World Resort at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, this is one of the player's favorites because of the warm weather. Many popular tournament champions have purchased homes here and brought along their families for an extended stay after the last tournament of the season is played.

The Children's Miracle Network Classic has provided millions of dollars to charities for needy children all over the U.S. The tournament is played on two golf courses in the Walt Disney World Resort, the Magnolia and the Palm. Both the courses are highly challenging and provide players with a tropical Floridian back drop while taking on the double courses.
Both the Magnolia and the Palm golf courses were designed by Joe Lee in 1971, and have been going strong ever since. The Children's Miracle Network Classic has been a joy for PGA champions being that it provides not only a fat purse for the winner, but an even fatter one for the children who need it as well. Both of these courses can be tricky, though, with the Magnolia having 15 water hazards to play around on it.
Including both courses in the Children's Miracle Network Classic, the first two rounds are played on both courses while the third and fourth are limited solely to the Magnolia course. Named for the many blooming magnolia trees on the course, the magnolia even has a Mickey Mouse shaped sand trap on hole #11. This is just a cool tribute to Walt Disney and to all the kids in the world who love Mickey. The Children's Miracle Network Classic is one of the most amazing and heart-warming tournaments in the whole PGA Tour.
The biggest PGA Tour in Central Florida, the 39th Children's Miracle Network Classic is set to begin on November 9 through November 15th, 2009. For all the golf lovers who would enjoy the paradise Florida has to offer, the Children's Miracle Network Classic is a must. For all the challenges this tour offers the champions, it is also the magic that is stirred during the tournament that doing good deeds for children always brings around those involved. The game of golf is exciting and sometimes hard to play, according to the course and the weather. However, the game of golf played at the Magnolia and Palm golf courses in November are something special to experience for those who really appreciate nature's beauty and 18 holes of challenging golf. This tournament has crowned champions like Tiger Woods and Davis Love III and has gone down in history as one of the best PGA tournaments ever.
