The BMW Championship is the European Tours Premier event. The winner of the BMW Championship gains a minimum of 64 ranking points for winning the BMW Championship. Tickets are popular for this event especially since it seems to be a challenge to win it more than once. In fact, there are only 8 men to have won the tournament more than once in their golfing career. Top of that list is Nick Faldo who won the BMW Championship 4 times. The next with 3 wins each are Peter Alliss, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie then with two wins are Tony Jacklin, Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and Anders Hansen. Colin Montgomerie was the only man to actually pull a hat trick and win three in a row, 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Currently the first two rounds of the PGA Championship in the United Kingdom are shown live by Sky Sport then the highlights are shown on the BBC. For the final 2 rounds, the BBC shows the live game while Sky Sport shows the highlights. But nothing on television beats getting BMW Championship tickets and watching the tournament live.
The 14th hole is especially popular. For the past few years, the first person to hit a hole in 1 on the 14th hole won a car. In 2009 the prize car was a BMW Z4 sDrive35. It is the hole that is definitely worth trying to make that perfect shot.
This year, Paul Casey will be looking to put himself into the record books by becoming one of the elite few to win the BMW Championship more than once while Anders Hansen will be looking for an amazing third win.
