The 2008 Summer Olympics officially known as the 'Games of the XXIX Olympiad' will take place from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008. The opening ceremony will be commenced at 08:08:08 pm CST (12:08:08 UTC) at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing, the capital city of the People's Republic of China. About Opening Ceremony
The Olympic Games, the most popular international multi-sport event subdivided into summer and winter sessions, is held every four years. The original Olympic Games commenced in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, and was held until AD 393. In 1894, the International Olympic Committee was established with the initiative of a French nobleman, Pierre Frédy, Baron de Coubertin.
On 13th July, 2001 Beijing won the opportunity to be the host city through an exhaustive ballot of the 112th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Moscow after defeating other heavyweight competitors- Toronto (Canada), Paris (France), Istanbul (Turkey) and Osaka (Japan). This time the official logo has been entitled 'Dancing Beijing', featuring a stylized calligraphic character 'jing' which refers the host city.
The mascots of Beijing 2008 are the five Fuwa, each represents one color of the Olympic rings. These five Fuwa represent four popular animals of China: the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the
