St. Louis Blues

In the 1967 expansion, the Blues became were the last team to officially gain entry into the NHL. They were chosen over Baltimore to be one of that year’s six teams to join. Their entry into the NHL increased the sales of the St. Louis Blues tickets. During their first three seasons, the Blues reached the final round repeatedly, but they were defeated in 1968 and 1969 by the Montreal Canadiens, and the Boston bruins defeated the Blues again in 1970. However, their loyal fans continued to buy tickets and sales did not suffer much. >> More alt

About The St. Louis Blues

Phil Goyette won the Lady Byng Trophy for the team in 1970, and Red Berenson became the Blues’ major star at center. This way the St. Louis Blues ticket holding fans did not feel that the season was a complete waste because their team won a competition.

In 1973-74 season, the St. Louis Blues missed the playoffs for the first time, and they ended up in the Smythe Division after a realignment. This division has a reputation for being particularly weak, and the Blues won the 1976-77 season in the division – however, this would be the team’s last playoff appearance for ten years. The St. Louis Blues’ ticket sales was not doing too good because the franchise was on the brink of a financial downfall due to heavy pressures from the World Hockey Association as well as the outcome of financial decisions made by the owner of the team, Sid Salomon Jr.

In 1977, Salomon sold the St. Louis Blues to a St. Louis-based pet food mogul Ralston Purina. Finally, in 1980, the Blues made the playoffs - this would be the first of 25 consecutive post-season appearances. The St. Louis Blues tickets began to increase in popularity as the team continued to improve. Although their constant success kept their fans happy, it did not lead into the playoffs; they were defeated by the New York Rangers in the second round, and the St. Louis Blues followed their successful 1980-81 campaign with two straight sub-500 seasons – however, the team still managed to make the playoffs every single year.

The team went through a whole lot, from deferred salaries to poor sales of St. Louis Blues tickets. This team was cheaply run, but they never let this set back affect their spirit. The team spent the first half of the 2008-09 season at the bottom or near the bottom of the Western Conference, but the team began to turn things around with the superb goaltending of Chris Mason. On the 10th of April 2009, the blues made the playoffs by defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1. The Blues won their 6th seat in the Western conference by defeating Colorado 1-0 . St. Louis Blues tickets were once again highly sought after.

The team made it to the playoffs for the first time in five years. The St. Louis Blues’ ticket holding fans will be pleased to know that their team made it to the big game.
