The Minnesota Wild hockey team belongs to the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the NHL. It was a franchise team based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, owned by Minnesota Sports and Entertainment. The team was born in 1998 but made its debut in the 2000-01 NHL season. In their first game on October 6, 2000, they lost to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The team plays its home games at the Xcel Energy Center.

In the debut season of the Wild, they picked Marian Gaborik under the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Although, the team lost their first game to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Marian made the Wild's first ever goal. In the second season (2001-02), the team delivered some good performances. They scored 65 points in the season. In 2001-02 NHL Entry Draft, the Wild’s picked a good player, Andrew Brunette. He helped the team in scoring 69 points and Marian Gaborik scored 30 goals on behalf of the team in the season. In the 2002-03 season, the team entered their first playoff in the Western Conference Finals. But, the Anaheim Ducks won over the Wild and kicked the team out. In its second playoff (2007) also, the team faced the Anaheim Ducks, who defeated the Wild’s once again. The team does not have a single title to its name.
