Carolina Hurricanes

Though largely successful in the old WHA the then-Hartford Whalers struggled for the most part, experiencing only three winning seasons, which was a shame, as the team always had a strong fan base. Things have been different in North Carolina, with winning hockey being played on almost every occasion everywhere a fan of hockey might care to look. Carolina Hurricanes tickets eventually became strong sellers due to the affection for the team down in Raleigh. >> More alt

About The Carolina Hurricanes

Initially, the Hurricanes had to overcome a local affection for a minor-league team in the region which had earned fan loyalty, in addition to very strong fan bases for college basketball. The 1998/1999 season -- though not particularly notable for Carolina Hurricanes tickets being hot commodities -- became a year when the team set off on a path that would see it start playing truly winning hockey almost all of the time.

That season saw the hockey club win the new Southeastern Division title with a fine run of hockey, led by Ron Francis. Making the playoffs for the first time as a team since 1992 when they were the Whalers, the club experienced a nice uptick in sales of Carolina Hurricanes tickets. That season also was notable for the tragic loss of defenseman Steve Chaisson in an off-season auto accident.

Good times continued in 2001, when they made the Eastern Conference playoffs as the eighth seed. They played strong hockey in their first round series, giving the defending champion New Jersey Devils all they could handle until finally going down in six games. This series is widely acknowledged as the spark that powered the team's fortunes and a strong enthusiasm for Carolina Hurricanes tickets.

2002 became a signal year for the ’Canes, when they made the Stanley Cup finals for the very first time, facing the formidable and historically important Detroit Red Wings, one of the original hockey franchises in the league. On fire with enthusiasm, the Hurricanes stunned the Detroit squad, taking the first game in the series on strong play by Ron Francis. Detroit was having none of it, taking the next four games from the young club. Their strong playoff run led to strong sales of Carolina Hurricanes tickets.

The seasons since then continued to mark a maturation process that culminated in the club becoming the Stanley Cup champions for the first time in 2006. Strong play all across the roster, including from Rod Brind’Amour and others, became the norm and the city celebrated the team's triumph accordingly, eagerly snapping up Carolina Hurricanes tickets. And though they suffered a hangover the following season -- failing to make the playoffs -- they have since begun a return to eventual playoff hockey excellence.
