Bert Jones was a great quarterback for the Colts whose name is often forgotten. He helped bring the team three straight AFC East titles from 1975 to 1977. He had the misfortune of playing after Unitas and never fully receiving his due. But after his prime the Colts had nine consecutive losing seasons.

The next great Colts era lies in the hand of Peyton Manning. Manning took over the quarterback position in 1998 and has responded by winning six division titles, including six straight AFC South titles. He is considered one of the best at reading a defense at the snap. Fans will often see him changing plays and packages at the line as the defense gets set.

Manning has eight Pro Bowl selections so far and two MVP seasons under his belt. His greatest accomplishment is probably his Super Bowl victory in the 2005-06 season. At 32, he is often mentioned as the player most likely to blow away all the passing records.

2008 Season Preview

The team that won the Super Bowl is largely still together. The receiving corps has changed a little bit, but Reggie Wayne has emerged as a great second option to Marvin Harrison and Anthony Gonzalez developed last season as the third receiver. The club still has a strong running game with Joseph Addai and maintains an underrated defense. Defensive end Robert Mathis and safety Bob Sanders held opposing offenses to 16.4 points pre game last season and show no signs of stopping.
