As one of the first teams to exploit the forward pass, the Washington Redskins had the leagues best player in Sammy Baugh. Not only was he a Hall of Fame quarterback, but he also played cornerback as well as punter. With Baugh at the helm, the Washington Redskins were able to take this new game and win the franchise's first championship in 1937 against the Chicago Bears with a 28-21 win. Washington Redskin ticket holders were treated to an exciting round of games. The following year, the team tried to overtake the Chicago Bears again, but the Bears learned from their mistake and amped up their offensive set. The Redskins just didn't know what to do and lost devastatingly with a 73-0 loss. One of the biggest loss margins in the history of the NFL.

During their early days of football, the Washington Redskins were a very competitive team, winning winning 4 division titles in the 1940's. The sad part is the team would struggle for a very long time ahead. Over 4 decades to be exact. It wouldn't be until the 1980's that the team would come out of its funk.
In the 1980's, under new coach Joe Gibbs, the team was led by Joe Thiesmann and running back John Riggins. The offensive team was a tough group known to the other teams as “The Hogs”. The Hogs were large guys, but their plays were effective and they intimidated the other teams.
Finally, in 1983, the Washington Redskins ticket buyers were able to purchase tickets for an NFL championship to see their team defeat Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins. The team went on to win another Super Bowl in 1987.
Things stayed quiet for a couple of years then in 1991, the Washington Redskins went to another Super Bowl. This would be Joe Gibbs last. Then in 1997, the Redskins Owner Jack Kent Cooke died on the same evening of the opening of the teams new stadium in Landover, MD. The stadium was to be named in his honor. In his will, he left the team to the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation with the direction that the foundation be in charge of selling the team. Unfortunately, his son could not raise the funds so the team was sold to Daniel Snyder.
In 2007, the Washington Redskins ticket holders would be treated to a celebration for the teams 75th anniversary. The team ended the regular season 9-7 and this was good enough to get them into he playoffs. The celebration would be bittersweet though because in the last playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Redskins missed a field goal, then later in the game quarterback Todd Collins threw two interceptions to put the team behind 35-14.
During the off-season, the Washington Redskins have been making a lot of changes to their roster. They have signed a new defensive tackle, Albert Haynesworth, cornerback DeAngelo Hall, offensive guard Derrick Dockery and defensive Brian Orakpo. The Washington Redskins ticket holders are hoping that this new line of offense and defense will bring the team back to the big game during the 2009-2010 season.
