St. Louis Rams

The Rams have a rich history in the NFL. They are the only team to win championships in 3 different cities. First as the Cleveland Rams, second as the Los Angeles Rams, and finally as the St. Louis Rams, where they remain today. The team definitely had a strong pulse throughout the 1970's and won 7 division titles. As a strong contender for the Super Bowl, the team will have to rely on a lot of talent and a little luck to pull it off. >> More alt

About The St. Louis Rams

In 1994, the once L.A. Rams packed up and moved across the country and settles into their new home in St. Louis, Missouri at the Busch Memorial Stadium. They played there until their new stadium, the Trans World Dome, now known as the Edward Jones Dome, was completed. In 1995 and 1996 the rams were led by head coach Rich Brooks. Then in 1997 the now infamous Dick Vermeil was hired to coach the team. With Vermeil at the helm, the St. Louis Rams now had an offense that was strong enough to overpower almost any team in the league.

The St. Louis Rams ticket holders were treated to new quarterback Kurt Warner (an AFL vet used to playing a fast paced game on turf) and multi-faceted running back Marshall Faulk. These two, along with veteran receiver Isaac Bruce and rookie receiver Torry Holt, gave the offense the ability to strike from any distance.

In 1999 the team finished first with a 13-3 record in the NFC West. This record earned the St. Louis Rams ticket holders a trip to the playoffs. The Rams would make it to the Super Bowl against the Titans and would finally take home the big prize, stopping the Titans receiver just one yard from the end zone.

In 2001, the St. Louis Rams tried to recreate the success of the Super Bowl winning team. That year the team managed to make it to the Super Bowl again, but this time they lost to the Patriots. Kurt Warner was replaced by new quarterback Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson replaced Faulk. The team has yet to find that success of their Super Bowl winning team and has now begun a lowly period, starting from scratch.

2009 Season Preview

Coming off a 2-14 record in 2008, the St. Louis Rams ticket holders will have to have faith in their team that they can come off two really dreadful seasons. As the new General Manager, Bill Devaney's first move was to bring in a new head coach, previous defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. The next order of business with the St. Louis Rams is to upgrade the defense then rebuild the offense.

New offensive and defensive coordinators Pat Shurmur and Ken Flajole were hired by Spagnuolo and the St. Louis Rams picked up Ravens center Jason Brown on a record contract to play for the Rams. In May it was announced that the team would be put up for sale. While the sale price is unknown, the estimated value is $929 million. A group is forming to hopefully buy and keep the franchise in St. Louis.
