Philadelphia Eagles

One would think that a team that has twenty-one playoff appearances, eleven division championships and three conference championships under their belt would have at least one Super Bowl win. But not this team. Not yet at least. The Eagles moved into Shibe Park to play football in 1940 and would continue to play there until 1957 except for 1941. During their first ten years as a franchise team, the Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders didn't really have much to cheer about. The team struggled to win their games and would endure losing season after season. In 1943, during WWII there was a shortage of man power for football teams so the league decided to combine teams. The would be known for that time as the Phil-Pitt Eagles or the Steagles. This only lasted for a short time and was never intended to be a permanent arrangement. By the end of the 1940's, the team would finally gain some notoriety by winning three consecutive NFL Championships by complete shut-outs. >> More alt

About The Philadelphia Eagles

In 1961, the Philadelphia Eagles had a good season, but as Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders know all too well, this wouldn't last. In 1962, they once again fell on hard times then the franchise was sold in 1963 to Jerry Wolman. Wolman would hold on to the failing team until 1969 when he would sell it to Leonard Tose for a little over $16 million. He then names former Eagle receiver Pete Retzlaff General Manager and Jerry Williams as the new coach. In 1976, the great Dick Vermeil was hired to coach the still struggling team. The team had only given the Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders one winning season from 1962-1975. Vermeil would quickly lead the team to four consecutive appearances in the playoffs.

Through the mid-1980's, the bottom dropped out of the Philadelphia Eagles ticket sales. But in 1996, the arrival of Buddy Ryan and his fiery attitude amped up not only the team, but the fans and Philadelphia Eagles tickets once again began to sell. From 1988 to 1996, the Philadelphia Eagles along with Ryan as their leader made it to the playoffs 6 out of 9 seasons, but winning only once.

In 2004, the Eagles finally had their chance at the big game. Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots was supposed to be the Eagles chance at the win they so desperately wanted. Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb couldn't pull off the Super Bowl win and so they would go another year without winning the big prize. In 2008, the team won its landmark 500th game.

2009 Season Preview

As with the last few years, the Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders are anticipating the beginning of the season. While Donovan McNabb is aging and coming towards the end of his career, the Philadelphia Eagles don't know when to stop playing the quarterback. And now the Philadelphia Eagles have dropped themselves into a pot of controversy once again by bringing Michael Vick, fresh out of prison, on board as a back-up to McNabb. It seems the team cant stay out of controversy, the last one being Terrell Owens, his bad mouth, bad attitude and bad sportsmanship.

But perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles know something the rest of us don't. Vick's addition to the team will help sell Philadelphia Eagle tickets and will put fans dedication to the test.
