In the 2008 season the Raiders expect the offense to finally come together. JaMarcus Russell is under center, Justin Fargas and Darren McFadden will platoon at running back, and Ashley Lelie and Ronald Curry will try and get open down field. The roster is full of speed and Al Davis is counting on the group to come together to give the defense a break. The defense is talented, especially in the secondary. DeAngelo Hall, Nnamdi Asomugha, Gibril Wilson, and Michael Huff make one of the best secondaries around. Thomas Howard and Kirk Morrison are two solid linebackers and Derrick Burgess and Tommy Kelly fill the defensive line. If the offense can produce points and keep the ball out of the other team’s hands for a decent amount of time each game, then the dream of playoff tickets will no longer be such a far fetched one.

The last decade has seen the Oakland Raiders rise from the middle of the pack under Coach Jon Gruden, reach the top, take a difficult loss, and recede to the bottom of the NFL and the AFC West. Raiders playoff tickets have not printed in the last five seasons and the club is still reeling from a Super Bowl in 2002 that put them in the same game as the coach they traded away. Gruden led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 48-21 victory in Super Bowl XXXVII. The Raiders goodwill with Rich Gannon at quarterback and Jerry Rice and Tim Brown at receiver ended that game.
