The Miami Dolphins history has some rich periods. There are the legendary teams of the ‘70s, including the only perfect season in the history of the NFL in 1972. That decade saw greatness with a roster with Bob Griese, Larry Csonka, Paul Warfiedl, and Mercury Morris. Dolphins playoff tickets would not bring that type of excitement again until the ‘80s. Following a great run in the strike shortened season in 1982, the Dolphins drafted Dan Marino. The fate of the team would follow the path of Marino’s career until 1999.

A Dolphins game on the schedule meant a game with the defense held captive by the arm and eyes of Marino, great receivers like Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, and complete lack of a running game. Throughout his great career and the many playoff tickets he made available, the Dolphins only went to the Super Bowl once under his direction. The year was 1984 and the team went 14-2. The dominant team rolled in easily into the postseason and did not meet a challenge until Joe Montana and the 49ers tore the team apart 38-16.
Modern day Dolphins playoff tickets were not in the picture at the beginning of the 2008 season. The memories of 2007 were in the fore front and the lack of a quarterback promised another dismal year at Dolphins Stadium. Then the wackiness of the NFL season began to change the reality most Miami fans had already accepted. Favre was traded to the Jets and Pennington was released. The Dolphins picked up the quarterback who had struggled recently, but who also has proven a capability to run a winning offense. Then in Week 1 Brady went out for the entire season.
Now the Patriots are far from the runaway favorites they have been. The Jets may have Favre, but his age has shown in the last few seasons despite his continued brilliance. The Bills are on the cusp, but whether or not they begin to reach their potential this season is still to be seen. Now every division game on the schedule carries playoff implications for every team. Tickets to each match up will see a club with an honest chance to make the playoffs. The Dolphins are no different. The addition of Joey Porter should help the defense and the return of Ricky Williams to split time in the backfield with Ronnie Brown will give Pennington something to work with.
