The Kansas City Chiefs recent playoff history is nothing compared to the glory years that are long past. The team made playoff tickets happen for Chiefs fans with a high powered offense that relied on Trent Green at quarterback and a great running back. First that back was Priest Holmes, and then it was Larry Johnson. Unfortunately a Vermeil offense in Kansas City has meant a heavy load for the running back and has had an almost career ending effect on the backs. Arrowhead Stadium went from seeing the high powered offenses take the team to the playoffs in 2003 and 2006.

The Herm Edwards team has suffered through a transition that has sapped the offense of all its explosiveness. The team took two seasons to lose its potency and make playoff tickets a dream as the quarterback position became a mystery from week to week. The fans have watched as the veteran Damon Huard and the young gun Brodie Croyle have battled it tout on the field during the regular season.
The 2008 season will have to see a big difference if Chiefs playoff tickets are to be more than a hypothetical. One quarterback has to earn the players confidence. The line is much improved with the addition of Branden Albert on the left side and is led by left guard Brian Waters. The line can make the holes for Larry Johnson, but if no passing game is developed even they cannot stop an eight or nine man front.
The defense has been Herm Edwards baby and it shows. Rookies Brandon Flowers and Glenn Dorsey are pieces for the future and they will get protection by playing with veterans like defensive end Tamba Hali, linebacker Derrick Johnson, and cornerback Patrick Surtain. The safeties Bernard Pollard and Jarrad Page are part of the future as well. The defense is a mix of young and old, but full of talent and ready to make a march into the postseason with Chiefs playoff tickets.
