The Atlanta Falcons are a team fighting to validate its numbers with a big win. Atlanta Falcons tickets for his big playoff game on January 8, 2012 at MetLife Stadium may be the time for Matt Ryan to prove his worth as a franchise quarterback. Up until now he has been doubted from just about every corner of the football universe. However, he did come through in the stretch. Ryan threw 11 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions during the 5-2 run toward the end of the season schedule. He also posted a QB Rating greater than 100 in five of those games.

He is not the only cog in this offense. Running back Michael Turner is racing father time and winning. He is almost 30 yet ran for 1,340 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Atlanta Falcons need him to be on his best and Ryan to be hitting Roddy White as a possession receiver and Julio Jones deep down the field. Those are the skilled players and the playmakers in an offense with the 8th best passing offense and the 17th best rushing offense.
Atlanta’s offense scores 25.1 points a game and allows 21.9. This is a healthy scoring margin. The Falcons are able to stop the run, ranking sixth. The passing defense is a little more susceptible, ranking 20th and allowing 236.6 yards. They also force their share of turnovers, earning some forgiveness for the passing defense. Player wise, defensive end John Abraham tallied 9.5 sacks and safety Thomas DeCoud led the team with 4 interceptions.
The Falcons have been fighting the fraud title for the past few seasons, just as Ryan has. If Ryan can continue to excel as he has in the second half of the season then he could make the jump his counterpart Eli Manning made just a few seasons ago. If not, then the Falcons may begin to start a search for another quarterback of the future, one who can make plays in this new era of quarterback-dominated offense.
The Atlanta Falcons were a surprise last season, making the playoffs with a rookie quarterback. Matt Ryan's first regular season series ended in a long touchdown pass and that pass seemed to epitomize the Falcons season. The team took everyone off guard. This season that element of surprise is gone and now Ryan and running back Michael Turner will have to contend with teams that are prepared to meet them.
