Started in the year 2002, The Hawaii Bowl is currently known as The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. The football tournament is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division, one of the largest collegiate associations in the world. Named after its title sponsor, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, the tournament is owned by “ESPN Plus”, the ESPN Regional Television Company. The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl is also famed as the “first non-all-star post-season game “ and is extensively covered by the ESPN and ESPN2's television networks. Located in the suburban area of Aiea, Hawaii, Aloha Stadium is the major venue of the bowl game. The stadium was first opened on 12 September in the year 1975 and it features a Field Turf surface and it is also the home ground of the University of Hawaii Warriors football team.
Besides the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Aloha Stadium has also been the venue for a wide range of other events with large-scale concerts, such as The Police in their final US concert on their Synchronicity Tour in the year 1984 and the final shows of Mariah Carey's Butterfly World Tour in the year 1998.
