The Rebels ended the season with an impressive 21-13 record with a 16-1 record at C. M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum. Coach Kennedy's debut season with the Ole Rebels is considered to be a successful season for the coach as well as the team. The Associated Press named Andy Kennedy the 2007 SEC Coach of the Year due to his leadership skills that enabled the Reds to reach their first NCAA Division I title and they also recorded the maximum number of wins since the year 2001.
The Ole Miss Lady Rebels Women's Basketball Team is a part of The Ole Miss Reds and represents women's basketball. The Basketball Hall of Fame legend Van Chancellor is widely known and acclaimed for his dedicated eighteen years coaching responsibilities with the Ole Miss Lady Rebels. Due to his captivating persona he motivated many players who later turned into coaches. Most notable of all is Jennifer Gillom, who provided immense assistance to Van Chancellor when he was coaching the US Senior Women's National Team for the 2002 World Championship.
