North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, a.k.a. NC A&T, is a historically black land-grant university in Greensboro, NC. It was established as The Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race in 1891. It’s a member of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund.

The Aggies are North Carolina A&T’s sports teams that compete in the NCAA’s Division I and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference; the football team competes in the Football Championship Subdivision. The teams’ colors are blue and gold. The Marching Band is called The Blue and Gold Marching Band. The Aggie Club is the main fundraising organization for the school’s athletic program. The funds collected supplement the program’s budget in areas like scholarships, academic services, sports medicine operations, student athlete facilities, nutrition and strength and conditioning.
The Aggies’ football team plays their home games in Aggie Stadium. The multi-purpose stadium can seat 22,000; it was designed by W. Edward Jenkins, an alumnus. It opened in 1982 and is home to the new Irwin Belk Olympic class track. The stadium also includes the state-of-the-art Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Fitness and Wellness Center, which is located in the northeast corner behind the scoreboard. The football team’s head coach is Lee Fobbs. The team has an overall record of 72-57-1 and has had 7 undefeated seasons since the stadium opened; the last undefeated season was in 2003. The Aggies will begin the 2008 season against Johnson C. Smith University on August 30. The following week, they’ll host rival Winston-Salem State. Coastal Carolina will play their first game at Aggie Stadium on September 27. Two weeks later, The Greatest Homecoming on Earth will take place: the Aggies will play Morgan State on October 11. After that, they’ll play 3 more home games against Howard on October 25, Florida A&M on November 8 and South Carolina State on November 22. Their road games will include: Norfolk State on September 13, Hampton on September 20, North Carolina Central on October 4, Delaware State on October 18 and Bethune-Cookman on November 1.
