Montana State University-Bozeman (a.k.a. MSU) is a public university in Bozeman, MT; it’s the main campus in the Montana State University System and the state’s land-grant university. The university’s main campus is also home to KUSM and the Museum of the Rockies. Established in 1893 as the state’s land-grant college, MSU was named the Agricultural College of the State of Montana. It was later renamed the Montana College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts; by the 1920s, it was commonly referred to as Montana State College. The state assembly renamed the school Montana State University on July 1, 1965 in recognition of its growth and superiority in undergraduate and graduate education.

About The Montana State Bobcats
MSU’s athletic teams are called the Bobcats (but were originally called the Aggies) and play in the NCAA Division I in the Big Sky Conference and the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision for football. The school won numerous national championships in men’s rodeo, 2 in football and 1 in men’s basketball. The football team plays their home games at Bobcat Stadium. MSU is planning to expand and remodel the stadium and augment most aspects of the facilities over the next 10 years according to Director of Athletics Peter Fields on May 15, 2008. The plan will start once the funding is in place; it starts off with the addition of 38 SkySuites over the east grandstands. Fields said the plan includes 6 phases, which could take almost a decade to complete. Combined with the stadium expansion, there are improvements to other areas of the Bobcat Athletics physical plant; including those that directly impact MSU’s student athletes.
These projects include a new academic center, improved strength training and sports medicine facilities, an indoor football practice area and dedicated practice area for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The Bobcats will open the 2008 season with their home opener against Adams State on August 30. Next, they travel to Manhattan, KS where they will play Kansas State. The following week, they travel to Minneapolis, MN where they will play the University of Minnesota on September 13. Next, they play South Dakota on September 27 at Bobcat Stadium. They travel to Pocatello, ID to play Idaho State on October 4. They play their Homecoming game against Weber State on October 11. They also play Eastern Washington State on October 18 at home. Then they travel to Sacramento, CA where they play Sacramento State on October 25. On November 1, they play Northern Colorado at home. They will stay home for their November 8 game against Northern Arizona, their November 15 game against Portland State and their November 22 game against the University of Montana.
