The Fresno State Bulldogs participate in the Western Athletic Conference of the NCAA. They had joined the conference in the year 1992. Prior to this, they had been a member of the California Collegiate Athletic association as well as the Big West conference. The Bulldogs kicked off in the sports of football in the year 1921. Since joining the WAC in the year 1992, the football team has owned a total of three conference titles. Some of the notable coaches of the team include Cecil Coleman and Jim Sweeney. Currently, Pat Hill has been coaching the team since the year 1997. During Hill's tenure, the team has been in its best form. The team has produced many notable players including Payton Williams, Kevin Cooper, Clint Stitser and many more.
The Fresno State Bulldogs football team plays its home games at the Bulldog Stadium. It is an outdoor football stadium in the California State University. The stadium was inaugurated in the year 1980 with a seating capacity for 30,000 spectators. It has played host to the California Bowl from the years 1981-91 and also the preliminary rounds of the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Currently, it can seat up to 41,031 spectators at any given time.
