About Alamo Bowl
Initially, this game was known with the name of “Builders Square Alamo Bowl” from 1993 to 1998, the Sylvania Alamo Bowl from 1999 to 2001 and the MasterCard Alamo Bowl from 2002 to 2005. The present logo of the event highlights the changes made in sponsorship. A prestigious partnership with Valero Energy Corporation was announced on May 24, 2007.
Amongst the colorful history of the Alamo Bowl, the most notable and memorable one is the 2002 game played Colorado and Wisconsin. Till date, this is the only game to have gone into overtime. In this match the unranked Badgers defeated the No. 14 ranked Buffaloes with the score of 31-28. Moreover, the 2005 match ended on one of the most controversial grounds in the history of bowl game.
