Alabama Crimson Tide is a member of the Southeastern Conference (Western Division). Also simply known as the Crimson Tide, it is referred to as the athletic teams at the University of Alabama and this school's athletic teams participate at the highest level of NCAA, often competing for conference and NCAA titles. Its athletic director is Mai Moore and its facilities include the Bryant-Denny Stadium that has a seating capacity for 92,138 guests. The rivalry between Crimson Tide and Auburn Universities is spread across all sports and is considered to be a quite deep and heated. Under the able leadership of head coach Mark Gottfried, the Alabama Crimson Tide Men's Basketball Team were able to achieve the first rank in 2003, though it was only for a brief moment of time. In the 2003-04 season, the Alabama Crimson Tide advanced to the Elite Eight only to be beaten by Connecticut.
Matt Gottfried was named as the Head Coach for the Crimson Tide in 1999. For the threes season that Mark coached the team, Crimson Tide managed to advance to the 'Sweet Sixteen' in all three seasons. Due to his able tutorage, Crimson Tide has been able crawl back to the national spotlight. The best year for the men's basketball team had been the 2001-2002 season, when they won the Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular season championship.
