The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team is a NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Big Ten Conference. Their home games are played at the 17,190 capacity Kohl Center, located on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus in Madison, Wisconsin. Their official uniform colors are cardinal and white, and their mascot is Bucky Badger. In recent years, they have developed into one of the biggest Big Ten's basketball powerhouses, and have made it to the Final Four twice in its history, most recently in 2000, and before that in 1941, when they won the National Championship.

They have also attended the NCAA tournament for the last nine seasons, since 1999 to 2007, and tied for first place in the Big Ten in the 2001-02 season along with Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio State. The Badgers won the Big Ten outright in 2002-03 season, but then lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament to Ohio State, and in the NCAA Tournament, they lost to Kentucky in the Sweet 16. Wisconsin finished second in the Big Ten in 2003-04 season, and went on to win the Big Ten Tournament, the only time they have won since the inception of the tournament in 1998. However, they lost to number 3-seeded Pittsburgh in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and finished third in the Big Ten in the 2004-05 season.
In the 2005 NCAA Tournament, they advanced to the Elite Eight by defeating number 11 seed Northern Iowa, number 14 seed Bucknell, and number 10 seed North Carolina State. The Badgers finished first in the Big Ten in the 2007-08 season, winning the Big Ten regular season outright and the conference tournament, defeating the University of Illinois in the finals, and were awarded a 3 seed and won their first game against California State University, Fullerton.
