The interscholastic football team of the Texas Christian University is known as the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU competes as a member of the Mountain West Conference.

TCU played its first football match in the year 1896, when it was still known by the name, AddRan College. It joined the Southwest Conference in the year 1923. The breakup with this Conference made TCU to transfer itself to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
The Frogs have won two national championships in the years-1935 & 1938 and also fourteen conference championships. Additionally, they have had some legendary players, including Sammy Baugh, Davey O'Brien and LaDainian Tomlinson.
TCU won the very first Cotton Bowl Classic under Coach Dutch Meyer. TCU has won two Sugar Bowl games. After the Frogs last Sugar Bowl game, they underwent an 11 bowl game winless streak from the years 1942 to 1998. In addition to the first Cotton Bowl, TCU has had the honor of playing in several other inaugural bowls, including the Bluebonnet, Mobile Alabama and both the Fort Worth Classic and Fort Worth Bowl games.
Amon G. Carter Stadium, which houses the TCU football team, the Horned Frogs, is an open-air football stadium located in Fort Worth, Texas. The stadium was inaugurated in the year 1930 and has a seating capacity for 22,000 spectators. It also hosts the annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, which has been played since the year 2003. It was named after Amon G. Carter, a prominent Fort Worth businessman, newspaper publisher and city booster.
