The Staples Center is going to host the Pacific Life Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament, for the fifth consecutive year. This sport has been regarded as one of the premier post-season basketball tournaments of the country. Every time since the past four years, there were different Pac-10 schools that emerged out as the winners and walked away with the crown. In the 2006 season, there were almost ten teams participating in the event for the first time. Now each Pac-10 team is allowed to hit their best of shots at the collection where there will be a league's automatic bid for the most famous NCAA Tournament.
The roots of the Pac-10 Tournament can be found while going back some eighty years ago. It was the time when the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) was founded on December 15, 1915, at the Oregon Hotel in Portland. Initially, in the beginning the members that originally formed the conference were just four schools namely, the University of Oregon, Oregon State College, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington.
The games of the Pacific Coast Conference began in 1916. After the success of the games, Washington State College (now Washington State University) joined the Conference one year later. Soon in the year 1918, Stanford University was also accepted to join the conference. The offices for the Pacific-10 Conference are located 25 miles east of San Francisco in Walnut Creek, Calif.
