The intercollegiate athletic teams of Georgia Institute of Technology are represented by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The GA Tech play in the NCAA Division 1-A Tournament and is a permanent member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team represents the Georgia Institute of Technology in the sports of basketball. Its present coach is Paul Hewitt, but the GA Tech tasted glory under the able leadership of Bobby Cremins with its first ACC tournament victory in school history in 1985. Cremins later on took the GA Techs to the school's first Final Four in 1990. He served as the GA Tech head coach from 1981 to 2000. Some of that played under the guidance of Bobby Cremins, but later went on to the NBA are, Duane Ferrell, Tom Hammonds, Dennis Scott, Brian Oliver, Kenny Anderson, Jon Barry, Travis Best, Stephon Marbury, Jason Collier and Matt Harpring.
For the 2006-07 season, the GA Techs registered 20-12 (8-9 ACC). As of now, Georgia Institute of Technology's basketball program is considered to be the best and the most successful sporting programs in the United States. In the last 25 years, the GA Tech has won 2 NCAA Final Fours and 3 ACC Championships.
